AM Suite – With new software, operational management and asset management firmly under control

The asset management specialists SPIE and Mettenmeier combine their competencies to develop the new software “AM Suite”. The aim of the cooperation is to sustainably cover the existing and future requirements of network operators in the areas of resource management, maintenance management, condition assessment, project planning, workforce management, reporting (BI) and fault management. Customers already gained first insights at the OPTIMUS and MGC user meeting on 11 September, where the modules fault management and maintenance of the new software were presented.

For the digitalisation of processes, more is necessary than simply transforming paper into a digital form. SPIE and Mettenmeier therefore focus on the basic idea of capturing data once where it is generated. Responsive design and mobile first are the essential architectural guidelines to ensure high data quality without media discontinuity and renewed data capture in a central administration. In addition to already established functions of the existing software systems, web-based clients now manage an optimal mobile, platform- and location-independent use of all modules of the cloud-enabled solution.

Usability is the key
Individually configurable dashboards and process-controlled input masks with wizard support ensure noticeably improved usability and simple user guidance. “In addition, the new solution provides existing and new customers with an optimized interactive data exchange to all common GIS and ERP systems,” says Stefanie Mollemeier, Head of Software Division at Mettenmeier. “Future topics such as the real-time integration of messages from IoT sensors and predictive maintenance solutions as well as the integration of BIM standards in planning have already found their way into the functional catalog,” says Dr. Nils Neusel-Lange, Head of Utility Solutions at the CeGIT business unit of SPIE Germany & Central Europe. “We also integrate data from customer installations and systems managed by grid operators, such as energy efficiency, solar, e-mobility or virtual power plant software systems,” Neusel-Lange continues.

Milestone reached with new software architecture and base platform
The developers have reached a first milestone with the completion of the new software architecture and the basic platform on which the new modules of the asset management software suite dock. The new basic platform offers standardised data access for all functional modules, a wizard generator, a parameterisation environment, for example for generating masks, and complex rights, user and client management. At the same time, the platform with its standardised interfaces guarantees efficient and fast creation of new modules, both from the product cooperation side and from third-party providers to cover special functions in the form of third-party apps.

Simple operation scores with the users
The simple operation and intuitive, user-oriented data input through standardised input workflows, in which the user is guided through the fault recording processes with wizards, is also standard for the other modules.

Long-term customers are on the safe side
In addition to new customers, both companies also have their long-term customers in mind:
For the latter, seamless integration of the new modules into the systems currently in use and subsequent migration to the new AM Suite are easily possible.
